Day 2: Prototyping Movement

Mockups for the title, prototyping movement.

Today, I started prototyping my main character’s movement and building out the game design document. I’m hoping that I can find some time to stream this weekend and share progress, but it’s a busy weekend!

I’m enjoying reading about moths and fireflies. I’m going to implement some light storytelling to help set the scene. I’m exploring colors and tone that I want to achieve for the game. So far, my research tells me to speed up and just use Ori and the Blind Forest as inspiration.

For the game engine, I’m using Godot, for my art, I am using Procreate! I’m thinking about doing animation in Spine so that I can export animation frames instead of bone animations in engine and worry about flipping sprite issues. We shall see!
