Vibe Clicker – Week 10: Itch and GX Games Launch, Steam on the 25th!

Vibe Clicker launched on Itch.io and GX.Games! Steam release set for July 25th!

Last week was a HUGE week for Vibe Clicker! I launched version 1.0 on Itch.io and GX.Games. You can wishlist Vibe Clicker on Steam today! The game will be available on July 25th for Steam. Make sure you check out the official Vibe Clicker website and click on the logo – it’s fun!

It was stressful and amazing all at the same time. This is the first game I created outside of a game jam completely in quite a few years. I felt inspired by starting my stream again and also wanting to work on a video game since I cancelled Rise of the Intern. I had a creeping impostor syndrome feeling after I realized I was biting off more than I could chew with that game, so I decided to make something a little easier and a little smaller. That’s why I went with a clicker style game! I was surprised how much work was still needed to get this out the door. My community convinced me to release the game on Steam as well, so that turned into its own adventure on the side. I’m glad I went down that rabbit hole because now I know how to launch games on Steam!

I posted the post-mortem for the game and summed it up in 3 paragraphs. There’s a lot to learn from a project like this, and I’m looking forward to figuring out what to make next. I’m in the research and discovery phase, so it’s going to be a lot of playing games for a bit while I discover the fun game that I want to make. I have 2 ideas so far, but I need to see if I even like playing the genre first. For now, check out what was completed for Vibe Clicker during launch week, and let’s prepare over the next few weeks for the Steam release, which I’m aiming to include a Support Bundle DLC and Steam-linked Achievements.

Prelaunch fixes and upcoming items completed for 1.1:

  • Update upgrade costs dynamically to indicate affordability (e.g., turn from red to normal when affordable) to improve clarity during spam clicking.
    • The buy buttons now gray out when you can’t buy the upgrade
  • Raised cost of items for Vibe Lord Phase
  • Bug: HTML 5 version the scrollbar sticks after clicking
    • Browser issue resolves when you come back and click anything in-game.
  • Update the x5 button to be x20 as a vibe lord
  • Fix upgrades not getting bonuses when using big button upgrade
  • Fix costs not updating after passive upgrades work
  • Launch build testing on all platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux, and HTML)
  • Make rep actually rep/click instead of every 6
  • Swap the fast and slow slider to make more sense
  • Include Godot’s licensing
  • Better end-game (the final click price updated)

In case you missed the launch stream on July 4th
