Vibe Clicker – Week 3: Dev playthrough and upgrade improvements

I implemented several additions to the game, including the 40, yes, that's right, 40 different upgrade options.

This week was a HUGE progress week. I implemented several additions to the game, including the 40, yes, that’s right, 40 different upgrade options. Balancing these will be a nightmare, but I’m prepared to play my game since it’s pretty fun!

Here are a few changes this week:

  • New progression clicker art based on career level: Monitor v1, Monitor v2, Lil AI Guy, Creepy VibeOrb thing
  • Enabled the ability to make upgrades require certain levels of other upgrades rather than just level 1
  • Added new stat tracking
  • HUGE refactor on the upgrades and stat tracking to enable easier highscores (once I get that added)
  • Added tooltips for showing the upgrade data
  • TONS of new sounds
  • Fixed career progression and made it so the upgrade is visible

In case you missed it, I did two streams last week (Sunday is included in last week, okay?), so make sure to check out the playlist for all the streams! However, as promised, here’s the stream video:

I'm hoping that I can find some time to stream this weekend and share progress, but it's a busy weekend! I'm enjoying reading about moths and fireflies. I'm going to implement some light storytelling to help set the scene. I'm…

JernJam 2026 begins! Here’s what I’m making.

It's been almost a year since I posted. Quite honestly, I haven't been making games. I tried back in April, but I overscoped and had to refactor the character setup almost a week in. I spent too many days on art and delayed the actual work inside the engine. That's on me! Other than that,…

We're back again with another Indie Game Gauntlet. The submissions show a passion for game development and innovation. The projects in this lineup deserve a little more attention, and I hope I can bring them into your radar this month. From the depths of hell's mailroom all the way to a robot escaping a castle,…

The Indie Game Gauntlet is BACK for November!

As indie game developers, we pour our passion into every aspect of our games. We spend endless late nights fine-tuning mechanics (adding secret endings), perfecting the art, and creating experiences we hope players will adore. But the truth is, we’re often too close to our projects to see them objectively. You test endlessly, only for…
